Nexus Learning and Development
We at Nexus Community believe that our staff are our most valuable asset. We recognise that learning and development is a priority for the high standards of service and staff motivation, which is why we are committed to helping all staff develop skills, gain qualifications and improve long term career prospects.
By investing in people through learning and development activities we harness their full potential and focus their energies on the needs of the organisation while fulfilling their need for personal development and job satisfaction.
We recognise that such development is a continuing process for every employee at every level of the organisation. Learning is seen as a necessary investment in order to provide the excellent service demanded by customers and employees receive this investment from their first day via a comprehensive induction programme.
Dependent on your job role the types of training courses you could expect to attend if you worked at Nexus include:
- National Pool Lifeguard Qualification,
- Safeguarding Children training,
- Customer Service training,
- Sales training,
- ISRM Supervisory Management Certificate,
- IOSH Managing Safely, NVQ Levels 2 and 3 in a variety of subjects including fitness instruction, operational services, leisure management and customer service.
We also offer structured career paths within all our departments so that staff are aware of the skills, qualities and training they require in order to progress their careers – many of the supervisors and managers currently in post were recruited internally.
As a result of our policy, Nexus has had Investors in People recognition since September 1999. This award commonly referred to as IIP shows that an organisation recognises the importance of training and development in achieving corporate objectives and invests in its people to bring about a variety of benefits.
