FAQ
What ages are the children?
Children must have had their 5th birthday and we take them up to the age of 12 years old
What should I not send my child with?
Please do not allow your child to bring any valuables with them. We cannot take responsibility for items like game boys, mobile phones, precious toys, game cards or money. If they do bring such items with them they must take responsibility for looking after them.
Are they split up activities?
The children are split up for some activities, the 5's, 6's and 7's together as one group and the 8's and over.Safety is our first priority so we could split the children for an activity such as five a side football.
How is the day run?
The day is split up with 3 or 4 activities in the morning and 3 or 4 activities in the afternoon. There will be a break both mid morning and mid afternoon; an opportunity for all the children to catch their breath, have a drink and a snack (which you will need to provide). Water is always available
Will my child go roller- skating?
Children over 8 years old can, with your permission, take part in these sessions. The Leisure Centres have skates & roller blades that the children can borrow; however, the smallest size available is adult size 1. We do not provide protective equipment for this activity
Will my child go swimming?
With your permission children under the age of 8 may have the opportunity to take part in a fun swimming lesson. Children aged 8 and over will be expected to pass a short water confidence test. The lifeguard will assess if the child is allowed to go into deep water or must stay in the shallow end of the pool or need armbands. You will need to provide arm bands if needed. (This activity is not available at all centres)
Do you take childcare vouchers?
We accept most childcare vouchers as full or part payment at ONLY Windrush Leisure Centre Witney
Can I see a full copy of your policies?
Yes a copy is held at each scheme, just ask any member of staff to see the file
What happens if my child is upset?
If your child is unhappy at being left in the morning we suggest that you leave him/her with a member of staff as quickly as possible. Staying, in most cases, can make the situation worse. In the unlikely event of your child continuing to be unhappy at the scheme the organiser will contact you to discuss the best way forward.
What are the scheme rules?
We have a few rules that are explained to the children each day.
- Be nice to each other
- Help each other
- Listen to your team leader
- Look after the equipment
- Help clear up and leave tidy
- Let your team leader know if there is a problem
- Stay with your team leader
- HAVE FUN!
What should I send my child with?
The children need to bring a packed lunch, a snack for each break and plenty to drink (no glass bottles please). We suggest you include an ice pack to keep the food and drink cool. The children need to come in suitable play clothes that will not matter if they get a bit dirty and shoes that they can run around in. It would help us if you could ensure that all their clothes are named. If it’s hot & sunny please remember a sun hat and sun cream.
How many staff will there be?
We staff on a 1:8 ratio. All of the staff are police checked. All staff receive training in Child Protection and working with children. All coaches have the required qualifications to deliver sessions for children.
What happens if i want to cancel a place?
The booking conditions are as follows:
- Refunds are only possible if the scheme is cancelled.
- If the place is re-let refunds will be given as a credit voucher for future play schemes.
- Over 28 days prior to start of days booked – 20% of the total price (administration charge)
