Casual Entry
Casual Users
Unless attending a session, or course, instructed by a member of Nexus Climb staff, users must have completed an Induction to their desired level to gain entry to ‘Nexus Climb’.
Those attending sessions and courses will have their names checked against their bookings to allow entry to ‘Nexus Climb’.
The Induction process involves a check, of your ability to perform, in a practical situation, the skills stated on the registration documents. The induction is not a recognised course, qualification or competency test. Any activities undertaken after the induction period are solely the responsibility of the registered user.
The inductions cover 3 levels of usage in ‘Nexus Climb’.
1. Bouldering.
2. Top Roping and Bouldering.
3. Leading, Top Roping and Bouldering.
The contents of these levels are listed at the end of this policy.
Coloured ‘induction cards’ will be issued to those who have completed an induction; 3 different colours will be in circulation with relevance to each of the 3 levels of induction.
Induction cards must be displayed at reception to allow access into ‘Nexus Climb’.
Checks may be made by our staff during the course of your session on your inducted level of usage. Please ensure you keep your induction cards with you.

Details of all users are stored on a database accessible only to Nexus Climb staff; Original signed copies of induction paperwork are stored in a locked filling system accessible only to Nexus Climb staff.
Junior Users 14 – 17 years - Unsupervised
14 – 17 years olds are able to use the facility, without direct supervision by a competent user, on successfully completion of the ‘Junior Induction Competency Check’.
The ‘Junior Induction Competency Check’ is a check by one of our staff that the user is able to practically complete the skills which are required to safely participate in activities at Nexus Climb. The induction is not a recognised course or qualification. Any activities undertaken after the induction period are solely the responsibility of the registered junior user.
The induction will require the completion of a ‘Parental Consent form’ before access is granted to the junior user.
The ‘Parental Consent form’ must be completed by a parent or legal guardian on behalf of the junior user. This must be witnessed by a member of Nexus Climb staff and must be completed whilst in ‘Nexus Climb’ facility.
To complete the ‘Junior Induction Competency Check’, potential users must book a one-hour session in which they will be tested on all aspects of safety in the climbing wall environment. This will include bouldering and top roping but excludes lead climbing.
A lead climbing assessment must be carried out on a separate occasion; this will require another one-hour long assessment.
A cost of £28.00 non-members and £19.50 members will have to be paid when booking the ‘Junior Induction Competency Check’.
