Carterton Triathlon
Sunday 19th August 2012
Firstly I would like to thank everyone that took part and helped out with our the event in 2011. I felt that on the whole we are continuing to improve the event and make sure it is enjoyable for all. Now onto the 2012 event and our 3rd year, my aim is to make it an even better event for triathletes of all levels to take part. Almost all of the event will be the same as before with a few small tweaks here and there from the feedback that was given after the event. The major change is the increase price to £30 for single entry and £45 for relays. This has had to be done to cover the rising costs to hiring the equipment, but also as we want to provide ‘tech’ t-shirts for each competitor which can be used for all types of training. I look forward to seeing you all on the day and hope you have an enjoyable event. If you have any questions please get in contact - details below.

Race Day Information
Registration will open at 7am with transition opening at 7.15am and the event starting at 8am - these will all be sign posted from registration itself. Please allow yourself plenty of time to get to the event and make sure everything is in place where you would like it to be.
Swim Information
The swim will be 400 meters and will take place in the 6 lane pool at the leisure centre. Each swim will go in four waves roughly every 15 minutes, 4 swimmers will be in each lane starting at 2 minute intervals. Each wave and lane will be seeded from the estimated swim time on the entry form, so please make these as accurate as possible. During the swim there will be no diving for safety reasons, however tumble turns are allowed. Every swimmer must also wear a swimming hat which will be provided if needed.
Bike Information
The bike course is a “two lap” route that goes out towards Witney and back to Carterton via Brize Norton, Curbridge and Minster Lovell. No drafting will be allowed anywhere during the cycle part of the race, please make sure there is at least a 5 meter gap between each competitor. Before the end of the first lap, competitors will take a left at a roundabout and left again shortly after to rejoin the main part of the lap. The course is fast and flat which makes it ideal for any first timer. Please make sure you obey the Highway Code at all times, if you do have to stop at the one set of traffic lights we will write down your race number and credit you back the time at the end. Please see the route below.
Run Information
The run is an out and back one lap course on paths and very quite roads. There will be a drinks station on the run to provide refreshment if needed. The course goes down to the main road below the centre and then follows the road around the back of Carterton to the football club where the turn around is situated. The run is also a nice flat course which should be great for competitors of all abilities.
Race Rules
Each competitor will be given a race briefing which will be an opportunity to ask any last minute questions and to go through the race and rules.
